meet others who have experienced mistreatment during maternity care
you are not alone. You deserve to be heard.
Did you feel unheard?
Did you experience a loss of control?
Were you forced to procedures?
Mistreatment during maternity care and forced interventions during childbirth are a systemic issue in the United States. While hospitals tend to ignore this and obscure accountability, there are many others out there suffering in silence from similar experiences thinking they’re alone. But this is not true.
We offer online meetings for anyone postpartum who has experienced mistreatment (mental and/or physical) during labor and delivery caused by healthcare providers. It is a space specifically focused on connecting with others who have experienced mistreatment during maternity care caused by the behavior or actions of healthcare providers, so you can know that you are not alone and are not to blame. You deserve to be heard.
To avoid triggering, at the beginning of each meeting, we’ll start with carefully discussing the level of details that can be tolerated before we proceed.
PLEASE NOTE:
Our space specifically focuses on connecting with others who have experienced mistreatment during maternity care caused by the behavior or actions of healthcare providers. We do not provide mental health or legal consulting. In case of a mental health crisis, please call 911.
The meetings are not for people processing the details and trauma of pregnancy as such and/or pregnancy/infant loss.
We do not allow observation by people who have not gone through mistreatment during maternity care, including students or professionals.
Cameras are required during introductions for the safety of all participants. Please make sure your technology allows you to turn on your camera at least briefly for this portion of the session.
The meetings will take place via Zoom, so make sure your device is compatible with the Zoom app. This may require updating or downloading the Zoom app.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
